Here are my questions:
1. what are some suggestions for solid foods that I can eat on the bike for a 1/2 IM distance (or longer)?
2. what should I do for weight workouts that will strengthen me but not tire me out too much that I can't do my other workouts?
3. what are some stretches for swimming muscles?
4. will roadbike shoes make a difference on a race compared to mountainbike shoes?
5. does the pedal system you use make cycling more or less efficient?
6. what do people have for race morning breakfast?
7. carbo loading...is it a myth?
8. what are some tips for not panicking in open water swims (or tips for managing panicking spells when swimming)?
9. sunscreen or bodyglide. What comes first?
10. will a tri bike make much of a difference in time compared to a road bike with aero bars?
Thanks, Coach!! Karen

10 Questions about triathlons from Sue
1.	Can I do the Ironman as a first triathlon? I have heard of people who have just done one tri and it was an Ironman.
2.	How much time do you need to recoup after a triathlon event? After an Ironman? After a half? After a Sprint? Etc.
3.	After the recovery time do I pick up training where I left off or begin slowly back up…I want to maximize the training effect of the race itself and set up for my next event.
4.	What is the best way to minimize anxiety at the start and through the first, say, 200 metres of the swim? I worry about crowding, kicking, cold water trauma, sightlines, cramping, panic..
5.	How do you train for transitions? Firstly, what are you thinking of as you head to the swim finish and run up the beach?
6.	Secondly, how do you prepare on, say, the last km of the bike section to get ready to switch to running? Do you have a particular routine you follow?
7.	In the transitions should you minimize your time at all costs? Or, are there times when taking a few extra seconds or even minutes ,say, to warm up or take in more fuel are better options?
8.	How do you measure how many calories you need to take in per hour? Do you have a formula you use?
9.	And how much liquid do you calculate per lb of body weight per hour? Or, how do you know how to estimate what works?
10.	Finally, how do you keep up your motivation year to year to get fitter and faster and continue signing up for another “ordeal”?
Thanks Coach Todd,
Sue

3. What is the best way to handle a nuisance like illness when training?

John Burroughs ~Ten Questions for the Timex Watch draw~

1. What's the difference between these 2 styles of bricks and what do you like better and why? Say 3-4 hrs in total. A long spin and then a long run? Or: On the bike off the bike on the bike more frequent?

2. Is the Paleo diet good for endurance athletes?

3. What do you like for bike training, cadence or heart rate? Is there a difference?

4. What makes a great triathlon coach?

5. I'm always hungry and I'm sick of almonds. Do you have an alternative to those afternoon snacks? Please don't say change the flavor to lime. I've Tried them all.

6. Would I look like an idiot wearing a Areo helmet in an Olympic distance triathlon?

7. After a 20k run should I take a cold bath or can I hop in the hot tub and relax, I mean I earned it?

8. What's your recipe for a Super Awesome Shake? I promise not to sell it.

9. How many hours a week should I train with my first IMC on route?

10. How many calories an hour should I take during the IMC race?

Here are my ten IM newbie questions!:

1) In an Iron distance event, where is the best place to line up for the swim, if you are not a very strong swimmer, and it is your first Iron distance event? Furthest in the back, left side or right? (specifically, with buoys on the left, going in a counter-clockwise direction, double loop...)

2) Would it be OK to just carry one bottle of fluid on my bike and just refuel at water stations if they are placed every ten miles, so I don't have to carry the extra weight on my bike?

3) Will renting wheels for my first IM make a noticeable difference on my overall bike time?

4) Does taking Pantothenic Acid really help cold water tolerance or is this just a myth?

5) Would you recommend swim socks in a cold water swim or do they cause too much drag (or hassle to take off)?

6) My goggles always fog up- even when they were brand new, and even when I use anti-fog! I have a really great pair and they seal perfectly. Any solution?

7) Do you have an IM tattoo?

8) Follow-up to #7, if so, where is it? :-)

9) Will I be setting myself up for knee issues if I like to cycle at a relatively lower average cadence on the flats, like around 80-85?

10) What is the biggest mistake a newbie will make at their first IM? (I'm sure there are lots...)?
